The Temecula Prep Patriots will face off against the Rolling Hills Prep Huskies at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Temecula Prep sitting on four straight wins and Rolling Hills Prep on three.
Temecula Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Santiago.
Nikolaz Gonzalez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn’t given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter’s box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. He has become a key player for Temecula Prep: the team is 15-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise.
Gonzalez wasn’t the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cody Servin, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Rolling Hills Prep got the win against Bethel Christian on Friday by a conclusive 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Temecula Prep, Rolling Hills Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Alex Hernandez. Throwing, Hernandez tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Matthew Moyer tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Hernandez went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Moyer went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That’s the most hits Hernandez has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Samuel Lopez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Christian McGhee was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Rolling Hills Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Temecula Prep’s win bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Rolling Hills Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
Tuesday’s game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Temecula Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it’s not like Rolling Hills Prep struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
